Cascade Sotheby’s is pleased to welcome artist Robyn Cochran-Ragland to May’s First Friday in Downtown Bend. Most recently working on mixed-media collages to express her interest in the movement of the human figure, Cochran-Ragland is also known for her printmaking and pastel work. Robyn finds her inspiration in a number of places including dance troupes and the First Friday Art Walk. With a background in fashion illustration, as wells as experience in graphic design, she says, “I strive to interpret the figure and perfect the mood of the pose while conscientiously trying to create a well-designed work of graphic art.” Cochran-Ragland’s pieces will be on display in our Downtown office and we welcome you to come view them in person May 1st from 5-8PM.
We want to send a big thank you to the Portland Tribune for their article spotlighting our grand opening in The Pearl. In addition to covering the launch, it expands on the look and feel of the office, as well as the business that our new location has already generated. We are thrilled to be a part of this community and look forward to developing long-lasting partnerships with the many terrific, local businesses, such as the Portland Tribune.
The Oregonian/OregonLive contributor, Terry Richard, has compiled a list of the top 10 backpacks to do this summer and Broken Top loop, with an entrance point just south of Sisters, is number one. Categorized by Richard as being “perfect for a three-day, two night trip”, he points out that, “you don’t need to retrace a single step…” You can read more about this backpack adventure and others, including tips on where to set-up camp as well as routes to follow, in his article.
Love them or hate them, if you live in Bend, you are stuck with them – roundabouts. At least in our town, we make them look good. The Bulletin reports that the nonprofit, Art in Public Places, is planning to install art at two roundabouts in town (SE Reed Market Road/15th Street & SE Murphy Road/Third Street). Later this month, there will be a submission process that will lead to the selection of three finalists, and from there, the community will get to voice its opinion. Look for the new installations in spring of 2016.
10 Barrel Brewing opened in Portland on March 16th. Its new Pearl District local has welcomed it with open arms, attracting crowds that occupy every square inch of its industrially designed space. Luckily there are plans to expand onto the rooftop this summer, with the addition of a beer garden. Two new, Portland-made beers are already available, thanks to onsite brewing capabilities, so stop by, grab a beer or a bite & then visit our new Cascade Sotheby’s Realty office – just around the corner. Cascade Sotheby’s First Thursday debut in Portland will feature artist KC Lockrem. A painter & mixed media artist, KC’s art is vibrant, layered & symbolic. “I paint with specific intention. Each finished piece tells a story filled with narrative imagery, poignant color and passion…”, KC says. Lockrem’s pieces have been on display in a number of galleries & museums since the early nineties; however, in 2014, KC began a new partnership with her brother, an award-winning photographer, Brown W. Cannon III. Collaboratively, their pieces both inspire & amaze. Please join us to view a selection of Lockrem’s art in person at our new Pearl District office (1321 NW Hoyt Street) this Thursday, April 2nd from 5:00-7:00 PM.
