100+ Women Who Care Central Oregon

Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty and Bend broker, Lisa Connors, are proud to bring awareness to 100+ Women Who Care Central Oregon. Connors, a co-founder, started the organization just over a year ago, and has almost donated $100,000 to local non-profits within the community.
100+ Women Who Care Central Oregon is the first of its kind in the Pacific NW, but the concept is quickly spreading throughout Alaska, Portland and Washington, thanks to Connors and the great success the organization has seen. The concept is simple: bring 100 women together, with each member advocating for a certain charity they believe is deserving of a donation, have the group select three charities at random to vote on and once one is selected, each member writes a $100 check in support of that charity. The Central Oregon chapter has now grown to nearly 300 members and contributions include: $18,155 to Bethlehem Inn, a homeless shelter in Bend, a building for the Central Oregon Disability Support Network, a bus for Oregon Adaptive Sports and, today, a $27,000 check was presented to the Central Oregon Veterans Ranch, which will be used to furnish a home where veterans will live in hospice and receive end-of-life care.
Cascade Sotheby’s would like to thank Lisa Connors and her group, for making a powerful impact on our local community and giving back to those in need. If you would like to learn more about their cause, please check out their website, like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter. Their next meeting will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Bend on Wednesday, December 9.

OEN Tom Holce Entrepreneurship Awards Winner

Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty would like to congratulate Rob Little, husband of Bend broker Betsey Little, for being named the Development Stage Category winner at the 22nd annual OEN Tom Holce Entrepreneurship Awards. The awards program is Oregon’s largest gathering of entrepreneurs, annually celebrating the skill and determination it takes to create a business out of an idea.
Winners were announced Thursday, October 22 at the Oregon Convention Center. Little won for his company, Cairn, a subscription gift box service that provides outdoor products such as: apparel, gear, food/energy, skincare and emergency/medical supplies. Subscriptions are $25/month and part of the fun of subscribing to Cairn is the surprise of opening the box to discover new brands and products each month. Cairn also collects customer demographic data and product reviews, that they can provide to the brands with which they work. This is the first time a Bend-based company has won the award and so we extend our sincere congratulations and thanks to Rob Little for bringing a thoughtful business model, flawless execution and excellent leadership to our community.

Sotheby’s 1996 Red Bordeaux

Whether you are a wine connoisseur or an occasional drinker, Sotheby’s provides services and knowledge for all of your wine needs. Sotheby’s wine is both a retail wine merchant and an auctioneer, with a store in the lobby of the Sotheby’s headquarters building in New York. Representative of the region from where it comes, wine is selected based on taste and quality while still being competitively marketed.
At Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty, we see the value in being able to offer wine to clients (our wine bar in the Lake Oswego office is a big hit) and we enjoy sharing a glass with you at various events we host. Perfect for buying a small number of bottles for a party, one as a gift, an investment, or building a great wine collection, we will be delighted to pass our knowledge of Sotheby’s wine on to you.
For fans of Cabernet, 1996 is the vintage of the ’90s. From the outset, 1996 has been heralded vintage, and the wines continue to grow in stature. Not only do they have ample fruit reflecting the excellent summer of that year, but the harmonious ripening also ensured wines of great beauty and complexity. Simply put, ’96 is the most complete vintage of the ’90s. Approaching 20 years old, these wines are at an excellent point to drink – they have developed at a pace that even the First Growths are extremely enjoyable now.
