2016 Bend Foodie Crawl

On Sunday, April 24th, the 2016 Foodie Crawl took place throughout downtown Bend, Oregon. This was the fifth year for the annual event that is meant to combine “progressive dinners” with the easy feel of a “pub crawl.” Each stop along the crawl hosts a small plate sample and beverage pairing from some of the area’s top chefs and restaurants. The event was held to benefit Bend Community Center’s Feed the Hungry Program.
Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty hosted a stop on the crawl, offering olives, blue cheese and tortilla fork samplers from The Well Traveled Fork. Paired with this snack, was a spirit sampling courtesy of Cascade Street Distillers.
Two representatives from the Source Weekly, Angela Moore and Jared Rasic, hilariously documented their experience working their way through the foodie crawl in a newly published article. To follow their entire experience, click here. Here is a quote from their time at the Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty stop:

They told us to eat them in the order of olive/blue cheese/tortilla, and that advice was taken, used and appreciated. The drink from Cascade Street Distillers was strong like bull, giving Angela instant goosebumps and making Jared’s face feel funny.

We would like to thank all of the vendors and sponsors for the event, as well as everyone who came to support the Bend Community Center.

Third Thursday with Artist Jeanine Liston

Jeanine Liston

Jeanine Liston has been doing art in one form or another since childhood (she won art lessons from Vancouver City when she was in 3rd Grade). Born in Iowa, but raised in Clark County most of her life, Jeanine spent two years in Taipei, Taiwan while her husband was in the military. This time heavily influenced her art work. She has been a member of the SWA for over 25 years and is still active as the club’s Historian. Currently focusing on watercolor, Jeanine has also shown and sold many oil works in the past.

I especially enjoy doing the Asian scenes and I have a series of local scenes called “Home Country” works.

With 5 children and 17 grandchildren, Jeanine’s family has laid roots in the farms of La Center. She is a graduate of Clark College, and continues to improve her work by taking classes there from time to time. Beyond her art career, Jeanine has done work in freelance writing and has a self published memoir of her mother’s Norwegian upbringing, as well as three children’s books.

April’s First Thursday in Portland’s Pearl District

First Thursday Art Walk

April marks the first month of 2016 that the Pearl District, in the heart of Portland, will close down 13th street and host artists for their monthly First Thursday event. Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty, located at the end of the 13th street art walk, will be holding our doors open as well, hosting local artist Robert Bickel and offering wine samples from Cooper Ridge Vineyard.

Robert Bickel

Robert Bickel is an architectural designer and artist who is fascinated by the concept of time and its dynamic relationship with the aesthetics of architectural structure. He explores this through the imagery of the passing wave in its graphic and conceptual power. Bickel’s work is a subjective expression of human limits in perceiving the fundamental physics of the universe.

“The structures and images humans see are not necessarily ‘real’ at all. They are moments in motion like the wave. In this relationship between time, the passing wave, and human consciousness lies great artistic potential which captivates me.”

Cooper Ridge Vineyard

Located in Roseburg, Oregon, Cooper Ridge Vineyard will be supplying wine for April’s First Thursday event. Cooper Ridge wines are produced with all estate grown grapes. They’re tasting room is located in the heart of the Umpqua with a breathtaking panoramic view over Garden Valley. Click here for more information about Cooper Ridge.
Please join us Thursday, April 7th from 5-8pm at our Pearl District Location (1321 NW Hoyt St.) for art, wine and appetizers!
