First Friday with Thomas Chavalia

We are excited to have artist Thomas Chavalia for November’s First Friday event in Bend, OR. Chavalia’s process involves printing a photo, mounting it on a canvas, and spraying it with a substance that adheres to the ink. “This process is what gives the photos their character,” he says. Please join us this Friday, November 6th from 5-8PM at our Downtown Bend location (821 NW Wall Street) for art, wine and appetizers! Event hosted by Natalie Vandenborn and Laura Blossey.

100+ Women Who Care Central Oregon

Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty and Bend broker, Lisa Connors, are proud to bring awareness to 100+ Women Who Care Central Oregon. Connors, a co-founder, started the organization just over a year ago, and has almost donated $100,000 to local non-profits within the community.
100+ Women Who Care Central Oregon is the first of its kind in the Pacific NW, but the concept is quickly spreading throughout Alaska, Portland and Washington, thanks to Connors and the great success the organization has seen. The concept is simple: bring 100 women together, with each member advocating for a certain charity they believe is deserving of a donation, have the group select three charities at random to vote on and once one is selected, each member writes a $100 check in support of that charity. The Central Oregon chapter has now grown to nearly 300 members and contributions include: $18,155 to Bethlehem Inn, a homeless shelter in Bend, a building for the Central Oregon Disability Support Network, a bus for Oregon Adaptive Sports and, today, a $27,000 check was presented to the Central Oregon Veterans Ranch, which will be used to furnish a home where veterans will live in hospice and receive end-of-life care.
Cascade Sotheby’s would like to thank Lisa Connors and her group, for making a powerful impact on our local community and giving back to those in need. If you would like to learn more about their cause, please check out their website, like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter. Their next meeting will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Bend on Wednesday, December 9.

Outdoor School for All

Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty and Bend broker Michele Anderson, would like to invite you to a fundraiser for Outdoor School for All, located at the Neil Kelly Design Center (190 Northeast Irving Ave, Bend) from 6-7:30pm on Tuesday, October 27. We need your help to secure full funding for statewide Outdoor School, as only about 44% of 5th/6th graders in the state of Oregon have access to Outdoor School. Through grants, donations and community support, Camp Tamarack was created to give all Bend students the chance to attend Outdoor School and benefit from the incredible leadership and life skills it provides. RSVP to jillian@oregonoutdoored.org or donate online. All donations will go towards securing stable funding for Outdoor School programs.

OEN Tom Holce Entrepreneurship Awards Winner

Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty would like to congratulate Rob Little, husband of Bend broker Betsey Little, for being named the Development Stage Category winner at the 22nd annual OEN Tom Holce Entrepreneurship Awards. The awards program is Oregon’s largest gathering of entrepreneurs, annually celebrating the skill and determination it takes to create a business out of an idea.
Winners were announced Thursday, October 22 at the Oregon Convention Center. Little won for his company, Cairn, a subscription gift box service that provides outdoor products such as: apparel, gear, food/energy, skincare and emergency/medical supplies. Subscriptions are $25/month and part of the fun of subscribing to Cairn is the surprise of opening the box to discover new brands and products each month. Cairn also collects customer demographic data and product reviews, that they can provide to the brands with which they work. This is the first time a Bend-based company has won the award and so we extend our sincere congratulations and thanks to Rob Little for bringing a thoughtful business model, flawless execution and excellent leadership to our community.
