We are excited to have artist Paul Solevad for January’s First Friday event in Vancouver, Washington. Paul was born and raised in California and received his B.F.A. in Painting from Cal Lutheran University in 1992. He spent seven years working for multiple art studios in the San Francisco bay area, doing hand-painted reproduction work for music retail and restaurant chains, as well as large-scale murals for trade shows and theater productions. During this time, he also pursued developing his own painting work for exhibit.
In 1999, Paul and his wife, Kama, migrated to Portland. In this time, Paul has continued painting and exhibiting in various restaurants, studios and gallery spaces. He has also done editorial illustration work for publications such as Willamette Week, The Bear Deluxe, and Progressive magazine. Paul moved across the river to Camas in 2005 and is currently involved with the Arts of Clark County Open Studios. Living and working in Camas has been an excellent opportunity for him to connect with the local community and build a peer group of other artists.

Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty reminds you to shop local this holiday season. First observed in 2010, Small Business Saturday is a national effort to support local businesses, taking place annually on the Saturday following Black Friday. Last year, Small Business Saturday was estimated to have brought in $5.5 billion, in consumer spending, to our local retailers. Small businesses are critical to the growth of our communities and we encourage you to check out what’s going on in your community. Many businesses, in Bend, Portland and Vancouver, will be offering special deals, prizes and other festivities.
Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty would like to wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving. We would also like to take this time to thank all of our clients, partners, brokers, staff and community members for your support over the past year. We are so fortunate for your continued business, as we continue to grow and expand across the Cascade region. We look forward to continued success with all of you. In observance of this holiday, please note that all of our offices will be closed today and tomorrow.
Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty would like to spotlight Transitional Youth, an organization that works to reduce homelessness in Portland and Southwest Washington. There will be a winter drive in the Vancouver, Lake Oswego and Portland Pearl District Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty offices, to collect donations for their cause.
Although the reasons are often complicated, it is estimated that dozens of youth end up living on the streets each month. Portland’s homeless youth population is one of the highest in the United States, and it continues to grow. Many homeless shelters are over capacity and have a continual need demand for basic items needed for survival.
We are collecting new and gently used men’s and women’s clothing in sizes M-XXL (jackets, sweatshirts, gloves, socks and underwear), weather protection items (stocking caps, blankets, wool socks, sleeping bags and rain gear), as well as toiletries (shampoo, disposable razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste) and work & school supplies (notebooks, calendars, backpacks and resource books).
Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty would like to thank you for helping us make an impact on our local community and bringing awareness to the many challenges that at-risk youth face. To learn more about Transitional Youth, volunteering, donating and other ways to support the cause, visit www.transitionalyouth.com or contact our Listing & Transaction Coordinator, Brandy Stephenson, at 360.419.5600.
