Earth Advantage is a third-party green building certification program that helps builders create durable, energy efficient, healthy, and resource-wise homes. While a home is built, it gets inspected multiple times in which there are 5 categories to earn certification points in: energy, land, materials, health, and water. The building is then given one of 5 certification levels, depending on how many points the property earns: Silver, Gold, Platinum, Net Zero Ready, or Net Zero.
Some of the inspected items include verifying insulation and air-sealing best practices, mechanical equipment efficiency, wood moisture content levels, window air sealing and flashing installation, heating and cooling systems, mechanical ventilation systems, finished products, and overall how air tight the home is.
